If you carry high loads, machinery, silage or are just seeking to maximise your cubic capacity, the Freighter Drop Deck Semi-Trailer is your answer.
The Freighter Drop Deck Semi is available as a single trailer, lead, tag, B-double or road train configuration.
Featuring Freighter’s short, extra strong gooseneck, the Drop Deck Semi can be specifically engineered to optimise pallet capacity and spacing on both upper and lower decks, depending on your freight requirements.
The Drop Deck Semi-Trailer can also be provided with optional pull out ramps to allow machinery to be driven between the lower and upper decks. Optional hydraulic ramps at the rear are a popular option, together with a beaver-tail rear end.
Driving between the lead and tag trailer can also be achieved through the use of Freighter’s “half moon decks” to create a complete drive-through combination. These and other optional features are shown below.

Options
*Please note that some of the options below may not be available with this trailer.
An innovative solution when payload is critical. Operators can gain payload increases of up to 1.3 tonnes - and that can mean an extra pallet in many cases.
The AirSTEEL option package is a clever combination of design, manufacturing techniques and components. Together, these can significantly reduce the tare weight of a range of Freighter trailers without sacrificing durability.
The most visible distinction of the AirSTEEL option is the purposeful "cut-outs" in the chassis flanges. Yet careful engineering of the chassis rails ensures that there is no reduction in strength. Other features of the AirSTEEL can include aluminium flooring and alloy wheels.
Freighter Design & Innovation Features:
The AirSTEEL option package can achieve up to a 23% reduction in the tare weight of a 45ft flat top trailer, weighing in at less than 5 tonnes.
Provides increased payload of up to 1.3 tonnes depending on the model and specification.
Extra payload means increased profits.
Lower tare weight means reduced fuel consumption when not fully loaded.
Stainless steel guards are durable and enhance the appearance of your trailer. Shown here with polished alloy wheels and chrome plated nut and hub covers.
Plastic radius guards suitable for your Freighter semi-trailer are commonly used in B-Double combinations and enhance the appearance of your trailer. Freighter uses radius guards that have been optimised in formulation and design to maximise life, minimise fading and retain flexibility.
A range of high quality Freighter galvanized, steel or aluminium gates is available to suit various load requirements and safety needs. These gates can also be provided at various heights and configurations.
Sliding Gates
Optional sliding gates are also available on T-Liners, overcoming the need to physically lift the gates to move them. The gates are permanently attached to the trailer’s sliding posts and can be slid sideways to facilitate loading and unloading. Sliding gates cannot get lost or stolen while at loading docks.
Suspended Gates
Additionally, please view the Mezzanine Decks option to see the alternative of suspended gates. Suspended gates utilise a flexible connection between the gate and a set of rollers in the roof rail. The driver merely has to lift the gate a little way out of the coaming rail and lower it slightly so it is suspended for effortless movement. Suspended gates cannot get lost or stolen while at loading docks.

Freighter semi-trailer spare wheel carriers are designed to carry either one or two wheels and tyres.
Please note that designs vary considerably depending on the Freighter trailer you have selected. Please check with your dealer for details when ordering.
Freighter has developed a hard wearing, light weight aluminum floor option, designed to reduce tare weight and increase payload of the trailer. A knurled slip resistant floor is also available. Please consult your dealer for more details.
The standard Freighter chequer plate steel floor can be reinforced with additional under floor supports to allow forklifts to drive on the trailer floor. This is particularly useful when carrying loads with areas of high load concentration, such as machinery.
The illustration shows a floor 5mm thick. Other thicknesses are also available depending on your requirements. Please consult your dealer when ordering.
Freighter semi-trailer load binders are track mounted for ease of movement to suit various loads. Load binders and winches are required to secure certain types of loads.
A set of quality alloy wheels improves trailer appearance and also helps to reduce trailer tare weight, thus increasing payload. Please consult your dealer for more details.
A Freighter approved digital hub odometer records trailer kilometres and helps with management of service programs and general maintenance. Please consult your dealer for more details.
A variety of Freighter toolbox designs and sizes is available, depending on trailer configuration and specific requirements. Please consult your dealer for more details.
